Do you dream of being a chef? Students with a love of food will have an opportunity in this workshop to work with CTE’s talented chef instructors and current culinary students. Hands-on activities may include making your own salsa, flatbreads or griddled sandwiches and producing bakery items such as cinnamon rolls and cider doughnuts. Manicure & Nail Art Cosmetology Arts & Science Hands-on Design Activity Do you like art and design? Does creative hands-on work excite you? Imagine the opportunities in the Cosmetology field…Students will have the opportunity to watch a demonstration of clipper cutting and nail art. Hands-on activities will include creating and designing your own nail art and using clippers on one of our CTE manikins. Register here for this workshop. Practice Dental Assisting Dental Assisting Hands-on Activities You only have one chance to make a positive first “impression”! If you’re interested in teeth and want to explore the field of dentistry, please join us. Hands-on activities include using dental materials to take an impression on a manikin and pouring up the mold in stone to make a model of teeth! Electrical Circuitry Building Systems Are you interested in learning more about Post and Beam construction and the fundamentals of electrical circuitry and plumbing? This workshop will introduce students to the basics of joinery used in residential and commercial construction, the intricate wiring and plumbing found in buildings and provide access to a working solar panel. The internal combustion engine harnesses fire to make power! Come join us in the Automotive Program for a hands-on activity with a small gasoline engine and use Snap-On tools. Woodworking Pre-Tech BASES (Building Arts and Small Engines) Are you a hands-on learner who wants to know more about woodworking? Pre-Tech BASES (Building Arts and Small Engines) offers the opportunity to use some of the wood shop tools to work on projects such as an animal cut-out, a cube in a cube, or other creative projects. Game of Logging Natural Resources, Forestry/Horticulture Operating a chainsaw is an intimidating task. The Natural Resources, Forestry/Horticulture program utilizes Northeast Woodland Training and The Game of Logging developed by Soren Eriksson to teach you how to wield a chainsaw the safe way! We will demonstrate cutting techniques and identify the internal parts of a tree. You will learn safety basics and start a chainsaw in this workshop (chains will be removed).
